Dog Lead and Collar Repairs

In my twenty years of being in business making and selling dog leads and collars, I have seen my fair share of chewed dog leads that may benefit from being repaired.

Contact Sarah after reading this page IN FULL if you need a collar, lead or something else repairing. Please do the following before sending:

• Send a photo of the item and the repair area
• Wash the lead thoroughly (we might have to wash it again)
• It might be rejected and you will be responsible for return postage
• What I can repair is limited so I might say it is possible, but then after seeing it, I might change my mind.
• Bag it twice and put your full name and full address with phone number and email.

Some leads and collars that need repairs are simply beyond help and should be replaced on grounds of safety.

Here is an example of what a lead looks like when it has been chewed – not to be mistaken for the lead ‘falling apart’.

These leads are generally +/- 400kg breaking load and do not fray like this without being damaged by something rubbing on them – generally your dogs’ teeth or repetitive rubbing on something else.

As a general rule, I would rather replace a lead that looks like this, but on some occasions, dog lead and collar repairs are possible.

It generally depends on the individual lead, the extent of the damage and where the damage is.

Preparing your item

Any lead sent back to us, unless already clean should be given a thorough scrub or put in the washing machine. The reason for this is if the material is dirty and gritty, it affects the sewing needle and is likely to damage my machine.

Put it in a bag, then inside the outer packaging (so it is bagged twice). It must have a note inside with your name, your address, phone number and email. Lots of things come to us with no note, so it is a guessing game as to who you are and a search through emails.

Initial Inspection & Repair Costs

Any equipment that is sent to us risks being sent back to you with a handling charge and return postage if we can’t repair it. If you don’t want it back, there will be a handling charge which is a minimum of £15.00.

All repairs carry a minimum charge of £15.00, and anything over 15 minutes is charged further. We can quote you once the repair job has been seen.

If this is one of our leads or collars that is damaged or faulty, you should check our returns page first. Any refunds are confirmed once the lead or collar has physically arrived in my office for inspection. No decision will be made until then even if we have seen photos of the item.

It might be that unless this item is of particular value, you would be better off replacing it.

Repairing something else

If you have something made of material that needs a repair, we may be able to help as well. We have industrial walking foot sewing machines that can handle small sized jobs, this means if you have a large tarpaulin or similar, we can’t help.

Making something bespoke out of webbing

If you have a project that needs bringing to life and it’s not a dog product, then that is OK too, we might able to help!
