Task: To make a splitter dog lead incorporating a bungee, padded handle, total 5 foot in length, main section 3 foot, splitters 2 foot, fixed screw locking carabiners, two D accessory rings to fix one coupler back up when not in use and a ring on the handle.

I’ve just received my new custom made lead from Sarah. I wanted a lead that would take both of my dogs. So, this is a typical project, one which stems from a dilemma that a customer is looking to solve. Usually the customer has a design in mind and with my input, we sometimes change or add elements based on improvements that can be made.

The Bungee Section

My bungee design gives controlled shock absorption, helping reduce sudden pulling while still keeping that sense of control that some regular bungee leads don’t offer. You can also look at our Running Lead which is a similar design to this and pairs well with the Dog Walking Belt.

Fixed Screw Locking Carabiners

The fixed screw locking carabiner, based on climbing carabiners made for the pet market. They feature a screw locking section that allows for secure closure and increased safety.

Padded Handles

Padded handles feature on most of my dog leads. It is a very soft almost velvet feel material with durable longevity and makes a good alternative to fleece which, in time, wears out.
