The waterproof recall lead is exactly that, a webbing with a rubbery feel, referred to sometimes as vegan leather or leather-like webbing. If you hear the term Biothane to refer to this type of webbing, this is an American brand that makes this type of webbing. It is generally more expensive than regular webbing, however its’ features are unique to this material such as its waterproof qualities.

Recall Leads

For those of you who you that are familiar with Meg K9, you will be aware that we have been selling dog leads for 20 years. We started with training leads and the recall lead was one of our first products all those years ago. The recall lead, also referred to as the long line, training lead, extra long lead or variations of those. It is a safe training lead that allows dogs who would not usually be allowed off the lead, so have a safe experience with some freedom.

The recall lead is also an essential training lead for teaching recall as the name suggests and because of this we also author several training documents to accompany some of our products. Teaching Your Dog the Recall is the dog training document that works hand in hand with this dog lead.

Care of your lead

The waterproof dog lead is traditionally fixed together by double cap nickel or brass rivets. They are made using specialised rivet machines and tools. Because of this, a certain amount or care and maintenance rules should apply. Although this dog lead is ideal for rivers, beaches and lakes etc, regular inspection of your waterproof dog lead should be made to make sure there is no degradation of the material joins. Nevertheless, this type of webbing is well know for being tough, but be sensible and don’t assume any dog lead to be invincible.
